contains the active substance gemfibrozil which belongs to a group of medicines commonly known as fibrates. These medicines are used to lower the level of fats (lipids) in the blood. For example the fats known as triglycerides. used, alongside a low fat diet and other non-medical treatment such as exercise and weight loss, to lower levels of fat in the blood.  can be used when other medicines (statins) are unsuitable, to reduce the occurrence of heart problems in men who are at high risk and who have increased ‘bad cholesterol’.  may also be prescribed to people who cannot be prescribed other lipid-lowering medicines for lowering blood cholesterol levels.
