Acetylcysteine 200mg Powder for Oral Solution
ACC is a mucolytic (mucus-thinning) expectorant. ACC effervescent tablet is used to dissolve mucus and remove phlegm in acute or chronic respiratory conditions.
Acetylcysteine is also used for the treatment of paracetamol overdose (where you may have taken too much paracetamol).
It contains N-Acetylcysteine 600mg
Before you are given Acetylcysteine:
Tell your doctor if you:
- Suffer from asthma or breathing difficulties
- Have had an adverse reaction to Acetylcysteine before
- Are pregnant or breast-feeding
Tell your doctor or nurse immediately if you notice any of the following symptoms.
- Swelling of the face, lips or tongue
- Wheezing, difficulty in breathing
- Feeling or being sick
- Irritation at the injection site
- Skin rash, itching
- Flushing (red face or feeling hot)
- Low blood pressure resulting in dizziness
In general the usual recommended dosage is:
Adults including elderly and adolescents 14 years and older: 600 mg (1 capsule) once daily.
Duration of therapy: the duration of therapy is dependent on the nature and severity of the illness and should be decided by the doctor.
Swallow the capsule with a drink of water. The capsule should be taken after food.
