Description & Properties :
Motilat (Domperidone) is a dopamine antagonist with anti-emetic properties.Due to its weak crossing of the blood-brain barrier, it is
unlikely to produce central effects such as extrapyramidal reactions or drowsiness.
Motilat increases the duration of antral and duodenal contractions and facilitates gastric emptying and regulates pyloric contractions.
It also increases oesophageal peristalsis and lower oesophageal sphincter pressure. Motilat restores normal motility & tone of the
upper gastrointestinal tract.
Indications:
Motilat is indicated for the treatment of:
-The dyspeptic symptom complex which is often associated with delayed gastric emptying, gastro-oesophageal reflux and oesophagitis,
these symptoms include sensation of epigastric fullness, upper abdominal pain or discomfort, nausea with or without vomiting and
heartburn which might be associated with regurgitation of food.
– Eructation & flatulence
– Nausea and vomiting of functional, organic, infectious or dietetic origin as well as nausea & vomiting induced by radiotherapy or
chemotherapy. It is used for nausea and vomiting caused by levodopa or bromocriptine administered for the treatment of
Parkinson’s disease.
Presentation :
Motilat Tablets: Each tablet contains Domperidone 10 mg. Blister packs of 30 tablets & hospital packs of different sizes are available.
Motilat Suspension: Each 1 ml contains Domperidone 1 mg. Bottles of 100 & 200 ml.
Product Description:
Domperidone™ 1mg/ml Oral Suspension has active ingredient which is called domperidone. This belongs to a group of medicines called ‘dopamine antagonists’.
 
How to use:
 
This medicine is used to treat nausea (feeling sick) and vomiting (being sick) in adults and adolescents (12 years of age and older and weighing 35kg or more).
 
Caution & Warnings:
 
Before taking this medicine contact your doctor if you:• suffer from liver problems (liver function impairment or failure) (see “Do not take Dompy™ if you: ”)• suffer from kidney problems (kidney function impairment or failure).It is advisable to ask your doctor for advice in case of prolonged treatment as you may need to take a lower dose or take this medicine less often, and your doctor may want to examine you regularly• are taking a medicine called levodopa, see ‘Taking other medicines’.If you are not sure if any of the above apply to you, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Dompy™. Do this even if they have applied in the past.
