WHAT IS GALVUS AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?
GALVUS belongs to a group of medicines called "oral antidiabetic products"
GALVUS is used to treat patients with type 2 diabetes. It is used when diabetes can not be controlled independently by diet and exercise. It helps control blood sugar levels.
Type 2 diabetes develops if the body does not produce enough insulin or if the insulin that the body produces does not work as well as it should. It can also develop if the body produces too much glucagon.
Insulin is a substance that helps lower blood sugar, especially after a meal. Glucagon is a substance that unlocks the process of producing sugar from the liver, which leads to an increase in blood glucose. Both substances are produced by the pancreas.
GALVUS works by stimulating the pancreas to produce more insulin and less glucagon. This helps to control blood sugar levels.
